After about 4 years of patiently waiting, The Ellen, DeGeneres’ Campus of the Dian Fossey has been officially opened to the public and visitors on Rwanda safaris. The Ellen DeGeneres campus is amazingly a great addition to The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund that still features as the biggest and longest serving organization committed to protect and study gorillas and their habitat.
Dian Fossey Fund is also committed to empowering the local residents living adjacent to gorilla safari parks such as Volcanoes National Park (VNP) in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in D.R. Congo.
Establishment of The Ellen DeGeneres Campus is without doubt an incredible step towards achieving gorilla conservation goal. The campus expands the organization’s (Dian Fossey Fund) teaching and laboratory spaces hence increase and transforming programs to study gorillas and their habitats while attracting more educational opportunities to early career African scientists and local community members.
The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Fund will play an important role and most significantly to expand the organization’s gorilla conservation, protection and research, train more African conservationists and ensure capacity building of local communities.
