2 Days Nyungwe Chimps & Canopy Walk

With just 2 Days, you can have the best of Nyungwe canopy walk and chimpanzee trekking experience. Nyungwe Forest National Park – NFNP is Rwanda’s 2nd biggest park and also the country’s largest natural forest-dominated protected area. The park was created in 2004 and lies in the far Southwestern edge of Rwanda, about 6 hours’ drive from the heart of Kigali.
Nyungwe Forest National Park occupies over 970sq.km and comprises of grasslands, bogs, bamboo forest and afro-montane forest. The park is sitting on elevation range of about 3000m and extends towards the Rwanda border with Burundi, Lake Kivu and Congo. It protects over 13 primate species (including silver monkeys, 500 chimps, Angola colobus monkeys, old baboons, Dent’s Mona monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys, Grey-cheeked mangabeys and others), 20 reptile species, and 310 species of birds.
The chimpanzee trek is done along Uwinka and Cyamudongo sectors, and canopy walk at Igishigishigi trail in Uwinka sector. The park is also popular for birding safaris, and hiking/forest walking tours.
