Situated in the Southern Province of Rwanda, Nyungwe National Park is rich and Biodiverse Park is one of Africa’s best spots to find wild chimpanzees. The 3 Day Nyungwe chimpanzees tour includes chimpanzee trekking with an experienced guide, a canopy walk and more. Chimpanzees are the closest relatives to humans sharing over 98% of their DNA with us and in Nyungwe, there are 500 individuals living in the same habitat with the rest of the primates and birds.
Besides the 13 primate species, the 970sq.km Nyungwe Forest National Park is a habitat to 310 species of birds, 200 tree species, colourful butterflies, etc. The bird list of Nyungwe Forest includes among others the Kivu ground thrush, red-throated alethe, Shelley’s crimson wing, Chapin’s flycatchers, Blue turacos, long-crested eagle, Rwenzori nightjars, Congo-bay owlet, and red-faced woodland warblers.
