Akagera National Park is one of the 4 parks in Rwanda, and it is the only location to find all the big 5 game in one habitat while on a Rwanda safari. The park expands up to 1122km² and protects wildlife such as elephants, the Maasai giraffes, lions, hippos, crocodiles, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos, and 500 bird species, etc. This short wildlife safari in Akagera starts and ends in the Kigali capital.

  • Day 1: Travel to Akagera National Park, Launch cruise on Lake Ihema

    Pick up early after breakfast, after driving to Akagera National Park for 2.5 hours in a 4x4 Rwanda safari vehicle. Akagera National Park is a scenic safari park located in Eastern Rwanda. Arrive at Akagera early and a guide from Mist Rwanda Safaris will drop at the lodge to check in, have lunch and relax. In the afternoon, transfer to Lake Ihema to enjoy 2-3 hours on a boat cruise. Here, your expected sightings range from hippos, crocodiles plus other wildlife that roam near the lake shores.

  • Day 2: A game drive, return to Kigali

In a classic 4x4 Rwanda safari vehicle, enjoy the incredible sights of wildlife such as leopards, buffaloes, lions, giraffes, impalas, roan antelopes, etc. There are also lots of birds to keep an eye on while on a wildlife safari in Akagera National Park. After a good time enjoying the big 5 game sights, return to check out of the lodge and drive back to Kigali.
