We work hand in hand with different volunteers and organizations in ensuring we build vibrant communities. We do this through various community outreach projects as way to give back and supporting these communities so that flourish with time. Our areas of interest cover the Batwa community in Southwestern Uganda where the Batwa pygmies live.

Before Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park were gazetted as gorilla parks, the Batwa pygmies lived in the forest for about 500000 years one reason they are famous as forest dwellers. They lived here as gatherers and hunters but what is amazing is that they left without impacting the gorilla habitat negatively. Presently, they are the marginalized group around the 2 gorilla parks and the best way to assist them is through cultural visit to their communities on Batwa community experience.

A Batwa community experience is a special activity that tourists on Uganda gorilla trekking tour can take part while in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. By incorporating gorilla safaris with cultural tours in the Batwa community means a great support to the Batwa pygmies and help them emerge from poverty. We believe it is one way to help enhance their livelihood.

As we interact with Batwa pygmies, we also share educative matters which we believe will in a long run help combat poverty. Empowering this marginalized group today will help them become self-sufficient by helping them discover and establish self-sustaining income generating initiatives such as the Batwa experience. While at Batwa community, the Batwa pygmies are given opportunity to guide tourists on Uganda safaris through the forest. In Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, you will embark on Batwa cultural trail which lets you have an in-depth exploration on the ancient way of life the Batwa lived, hunting and gathering techniques they used at the time, enjoy the best dances and music performances as well as the inspirational songs as they sing to you. Currently, the Batwa communities are part of the beneficiaries of tourism something that we believe will boast their livelihoods.

In Volcanoes National Park, Northwestern Uganda, part of finances Mist Rwanda Safaris earns from gorilla safaris is given back to the local communities adjacent to the park. We believe together we can transform lives! Through gorilla guardians village (Iby’Iwacu cultural village), our focus is mainly to give back to the local residents. We make sure tourists on Rwanda gorilla tour experience the real Rwandan village life by taking part in a number of activities ranging from grinding, firing bows and arrows, traditional dances and a lot more.

The gorilla guardian’s village is just close to Volcanoes National Park, Kinigi district-Northern Province of Rwanda. A visit to this village before or after gorilla trip lets you interact with local residents, engage in basket weaving, enjoy dances and music performances. The best way to support the gorilla guardian village is by embarking on a guided community walk, cultural visit to the King’s house, listen to stories, be part of the banana brewing process and a lot more. All these activities are intended to help promote gorilla conservation and tourism in Volcanoes National Park and other wildlife.
