The first day of your 7 days Uganda primate and wildlife safari begins with breakfast, check out and meet your safari leader for briefing on what you should expect on your holiday. After, drive through Kampala-Mityana-Mubende to Fort Portal to Kibale Forest National Park about 5 hours’ drive. Kibale National Park lies in Western Uganda and sits in an area of about 795sq.kms, harboring 13 different primate species. The notable primates to look out for in Kibale include chimpanzees, red tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, pottos, bush babies and over 370 bird species to mention but a few.
Have breakfast and after, head out to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for briefing on the safety measures for chimpanzee tracking. The actual trek begins at 8:00am and your adventure can last for 2-4 hours. On the way, keep an eye on other primates too including L’Hoest monkeys, red colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and many others plus bird species. Your afternoon will be spent on guided nature walks in Bigodi Wetland. This is for you to look for more primate species including vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys; bird species like the great blue turacos.
Following breakfast, check out of the lodge ready to begin your 3 hours’ drive from Kibale Forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Queen Elizabeth National Park is set in western Uganda and hosts buffaloes, lions, warthogs, elephants, leopards, hyenas, antelopes such as topis, waterbucks, kobs; hippos, crocodiles and many others.
Arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park early and have lunch. Your evening or afternoon will be spent on a game drive for you to look for variety of savanna dwellers in this national park. Later, get back to the lodge spend a night.
Have breakfast and later, set off for a morning game drive for you to see African bush elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes, leopards, warthogs, hyenas, birds and many others. This activity can take you 3-4 hours and after, drive back to the lodge to have lunch. At 2:00pm, you will have a boat cruise via Kazinga channel for you to see hippos, crocodiles and several water birds.
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and set off for a game drive via Ishasha area for you to see the tree climbing lions. Later, drive via Savanna Resort where you will have lunch then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The whole journey will cover 3 hours.
On the sixth day, you will be served with breakfast and later gather at Bwindi park headquarters for briefing on how you are expected to behave while on search for gorillas. At 8:00am after you have been assigned a gorilla family to track, begin your trek with an experienced park ranger guide. You will spend about 2-6 hours including an hour of magical encounter. Because this adventure demands some physical wellness, you are expected to come along with some energy giving snacks, bottled drinking water and walking stick which you can find at the park headquarters or lodge. Return to have some rest and your evening may involve a visit to Batwa Community for cultural experience.
Enjoy your cup of tea or coffee and later, embark on a return journey to Kampala/Entebbe. You will have a stopover at Uganda Equator crossing and finally get to Kampala/Entebbe to check in at your hotel.
